Audio Technica ATH-AD700X Sound Quality

The newly designed 53 mm drivers and bobbin-wound CCAW voice coils produce what is likely the best soundstage of any headphones in this price range. The instrument separation is unlike anything you've ever heard before, and there's no doubt that you'll have to listen to all of your favorite songs again to appreciate all of the previously unseen nuances.

The overall sound signature is neutral, with bass being the weakest link in the sound spectrum. It's undeniably present, and it's delivered with timely precision and good intention, but it lacks the power that would satisfy bassheads. You, on the other hand, don't feel tired at all. Long periods of listening appear to be completely natural. As a result, these would be ideal for the workplace.

Audio Technica ATH-AD700X Treble

This is where the headphones really come into their own. At this price point, the detail retrieval of these headphones is unrivaled. While wearing these headphones, I mostly listened to orchestral music. Each orchestral instrument sounded fantastic, and I could easily distinguish stringed instruments from percussive and brass instruments.

While I love the treble on these headphones, they can be tiring and I couldn't listen to them for long periods of time. Overall, these are extremely bright and detailed headphones. These headphones are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear.

I have a large head, and these headphones fit perfectly on it. I didn't feel the need to swap out the stock pads because they felt like pillows on my ears. Look no further if you're looking for detailed headphones for your competitive gaming sessions.

These headphones have a severe lack of bass, but this can be seen as a benefit in competitive gaming. Because there is little bass, it is slightly more difficult to hear footsteps, but much easier to hear small details, giving you an advantage over your opponents.

The sound stage and imaging is great. The only reason I didn't give these headphones 5 stars is because the headphone's cable is excessively long and is non-removable

HOW DO AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-AD700X COMPARE TO SENNHEISER HD 598 HEADPHONES?

Without an amp, the sound quality is adequate for listening to music on a computer or an iPhone. In terms of how they compare to the Sennheisers, I would say that both perform admirably when listening to music on a computer or iPhone, with or without an amplifier.

Where they diverge is in terms of comfort. I got a headache after only 10 minutes of wearing the AD 700xs. They apply pressure to the temple region of the skull, which I did not like. Sennheisers, on the other hand, are noticeably more comfortable. I now have Sennheiser HD 598s and Sennheiser PC 363Ds. I'd go with the Sennheisers over the AD700xs.

HOW WELL DOES THIS WORK ON A PS4 WITH A MIC?

I use this setup with a “Zalman” mic on a daily basis. The setup is excellent; my only complaint is that both cables are extremely long, which can be inconvenient.

I don't currently use an amp or a dac, but I heard from a close friend that it works very well with an Astro Mix-amp. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose a MOD MIC 4.0 over the Zalman because you can clip it on the ear cup and flip it up when you're done.

WHAT ARE THE SPECS ON THE 700Xs AND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 700S AND THE 700XS?

This is a newer model. The outside material has changed, but the hardware has not. The same earphone driver is still used, but it is now angled. The angle results in a more treble-heavy experience. The fit is unique.

The 700 is a little heavier and fits more comfortably, whereas the 700x constantly slips and digs into your head. To be comfortable, you must modify them. Because of the different front facing material, the older ones sound richer, but the newer ones produce a wider range (artificially).

In any case, these are excellent positional audio cans with a decent amp. Sound Blaster Z is what I use (has a standalone amp). I use mdr-v6 cans with custom fittings myself.

HOW DOES THE SOUND QUALITY ON THESE COMPARE TO THE ATH-M40X?

Because the m40x is closed, I'm guessing your question is about recording and monitoring. A closed monitor headphone would be ideal for this purpose.

If you meant you were going to listen to music in a quiet and comfortable room somewhere, the ad700x will definitely open your ears and blow your mind if you've never used open headphones before. Closed for monitoring or a noisy environment, open for the most peaceful and enjoyable sound. Closed configurations may have better bass.

VERDICT ON AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-AD700X

If we had to choose headphones based solely on the quality of their soundstage, the Audio Technica ATH-AD700X Over-Ear Headphones would be near the top of our list. When you put these headphones on, you will be transported to another dimension where sound paints vivid pictures of beautiful landscapes and wondrous scenes.

Their subtle elegance can even be seen in their aversion to exuberant displays of bass. Simply put, these headphones have a distinct personality that, in our opinion, makes them well worth the price.

The ATH-AD700X are set to compete fiercely with established brands such as Sennheiser, thanks to their signature self-adjusting wing support construction, large 53 mm drivers with bobbin-wound CCAW voice coils, and a lightweight honeycomb aluminum casing.

FAQs About Audio Technica ATH-AD700X

Is Ath AD700x good?

The Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X are low-cost open-back headphones with above-average sound quality for critical listening. They're comfortable and reasonably well-made. They are not, however, casual headphones. They will not be adaptable enough to be used outside or in noisy environments.

Is the Audio Technica ATH AD700x a good gaming headset?

The AD700x, on the other hand, is a disappointment. The AD700x is aimed more at the gaming market; it is also not very portable and quite bulky, but it produces good sound. If you want an all-around headphone, the ATH-M50s are the best option, and if you want a more gaming-oriented headphone, the AD700x is the best option.

Is Audio Technica a good company?

Is Audio Technica a good brand? Those who are accustomed to Sennheiser products may regard other brands as inferior, and they could probably benefit from a bit more bass. However, Audio Technica is a reliable brand with a wide selection of high-quality headphones.
